Web/Marketing Analyst
Job Description
Web/Marketing Analyst We are currently seeking a web analytics professional for the Marketing Research & Analysis department at Washingtonpost.Newsweek Interactive. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in using Internet site traffic measurement tools, ideally for an online media company. The candidate should have an understanding of research methodologies, and be able to transfer research data into actionable, well-written documents and presentations. This position will work closely with several divisions of WPNI. The web analyst will use site traffic, registration and other data to provide insight and answer key business questions. Site traffic information is used throughout our organization to help develop products and campaigns, optimize site usage and navigation, and increase knowledge of our site audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze web site performance, trends and click stream path activity to provide data driven business insights leading to fundamental improvements to the website experience for all WPNI sites
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly, ad hoc and campaign specific reporting in order to help business owners understand traffic patterns, site metrics, marketing performance, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop best practice approaches for analyzing user behavior on the websites.
- Create and maintain key reports, dashboards and analyses utilizing Omniture and other reporting tools.
- Measure the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, and create tools and methodology for allocating marketing budgets across various marketing channels in order to maximize audience growth and engagement
- Create special reports and presentations for senior staff and monthly cross-functional briefings.
- Provide ongoing training and support for users of web analytics tool throughout WPNI.
- Assist in the implementation and ongoing usage of new multivariate testing and site optimization programs.
- Work closely with Marketing staff on cross-over issues that involve site traffic, such as search marketing, marketing promotions, registration, loyalty programs and distributed content measurement.
Required Experience:
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years experience with web analysis tools (Omniture, WebTrends, Coremetrics, Google Analytics, etc.). Ideal candidate will have Omniture experience.
- Experience with A/B, multivariate testing and optimization a plus
- Experience with modeling, analysis, campaign performance measurement, and forecasting a plus
- Strong analytical and communication skills; must be a team player who excels in juggling multiple projects and working across department lines. Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- BA required, MBA is a plus.
