Web Analyst
Job Description
Expedia is looking for a talented and experienced Analytics Expert who can contribute to the success of our ambitious site analytics initiatives. This analyst will be part of the world’s largest online seller of travel and will work closely with multiple Expedia business stakeholders and analysts to help make data-driven business decisions based on our site analytics solution and technology.
As a member of the Strategy and Customer Insights Group you will be part of a small team delivering high impact analytics and reporting to the Expedia North America business team, as well as working on initiatives that bridge our global sites and many of our most important business initiatives.
The team reports to the President of Expedia North America and is essential to our aim of becoming the world’s most intelligent marketplace for travel. To this end the team provides reporting and analytical support to the business in a number of areas, and is a fast-paced and high-intensity working environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Working with business owners in several internal departments (Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, etc) and with external technology partners; this position will develop reports and ad-hoc analyses that help business owners understand marketing performance, site metrics, traffic patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
•Provide one-to-one and one-to-many training sessions within the organization and provide internal support as the system continues to evolve with changes in Expedia’s and the vendor’s technology platforms.
•Streamline management reports and processes to produce reports that identify actionable differences across our product lines and business units; and evaluate the effectiveness of our marketing and merchandising promotions. This individual will work to ensure our analytic tools meet internal customer needs while satisfying scalability, reliability and other performance requirements.
•Work closely with outside technology partners as needed to improve the usability and efficiency of reporting on traffic, shopping and purchasing behaviors across Expedia’s family of websites.
•Work with technical, marketing and retail professionals to understand reporting requirements, collaborate with managers, and other analysts to identify and rank new feature requests for integration in subsequent versions of the site analytics solution.
•Evangelize the system across the organization to accelerate integration into managing our businesses. Assist managers and analysts throughout the company to understand the power and managerial value of these analytic tools and provide them with insight about the implications of the data for various business initiatives and their contribution to the strategic goals of the organization.
•Generate weekly reports containing a variety of key site metrics including product performance, marketing effectiveness, purchase paths, traffic flows and geographical market performance.
•Manage and maintain permissions and user base access to reporting tools and provide support and trouble-shooting to users with various needs.
•Create, manage and maintain documentation and repositories for analytical information, training documentation, implementation documents and critical internal process documents.

Required Experience:
•2+ years of experience working in an online or e-commerce environment with web analytics.
•Demonstrated innovative problem solving skills and the ability to analyze and report on key business metrics.
•Ability to work independently and remain flexible and motivated to work in a fast-paced environment.
•Demonstrated ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization.
•Competency with project management including: issue and risk identification and management, tracking dependencies and milestones, and communication of overall project status.
•Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or related discipline preferred.
•Previous experience in the e-commerce and/or travel/hospitality sector a bonus.
Position Reports To: Sr. Manager, Web Analytics
This Job Requires the Following Skills:
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must-have.
•Functional to expert proficiency in Excel a must-have.
•Basic knowledge of general internet technologies such as HTML, JavaScript and URL structures preferred.
•Experience with TeaLeaf and/or Maxamine and working knowledge of SQL a bonus.
